Is my writing really private?
Yes. Everything you write stays in a private database on your phone. There's no account, no cloud sync, and no analytics. We don't have a server that could hold your words, so we couldn't read them if we tried. Deleting the app deletes everything with it.
What does "no contact" mean?
No contact is the practice of not reaching out to an ex — no texts, calls, or checking their socials — so your nervous system can actually settle and heal. Hearthkeep helps you hold it through the moments it's hardest, rather than policing you.
What's free, and what's Hearthkeep Plus?
The tools you need in a crisis are always free: the streak, the rescue flow, breathing, and writing letters you can burn. Hearthkeep Plus keeps everything close for the long haul — an unlimited letter archive, your full reasons vault, patterns across your check-ins, and milestone keepsakes.
How much does Plus cost?
$39.99 a year (about $3.33 a month) with a 7-day free trial, or $6.99 monthly. You can cancel anytime from your App Store settings; the trial won't charge you if you cancel before it ends.
What happens if I slip and reach out?
The streak resets to day zero — but nothing is punished. Your longest run is saved, every letter and reason you wrote is kept, and the bird meets you gently, not with disappointment. Beginning again is part of the process, not a failure of it.
Is this therapy?
No. Hearthkeep is a self-help companion, not therapy, medical care, or crisis support, and it doesn't replace professional help. If you're in crisis, please contact a local emergency service or crisis line.
Which devices does it work on?
Hearthkeep is an iPhone app, designed for a quiet, one-handed, late-night experience. An account isn't needed and never will be.
Can I get my writing out, or delete it all?
Everything lives on your device, so it's always in your hands. Settings has an "erase everything" option that permanently removes all your content and starts you fresh.
