Why we made Hearthkeep
Everyone knows the minute. It's late, you're tired, and their name is already typed. You delete it. You type it again. Whatever you send will cost you three steps back, and you know it, and you almost do it anyway.
Most apps for this moment try to fix you. They hand you a curriculum, a dashboard, a streak you're failing. They feel like homework at the exact time you have the least strength for it.
We didn't want to fix anyone. We wanted to sit beside them.
So Hearthkeep is small. It does the few things that actually help in the minute before you send — it interrupts the urge, it takes the words you can't say and holds them where they can't do damage, and it reminds you, in your own handwriting, why you left. Then it counts the night as one you got through.
A companion, not a coach
There's a bird. It doesn't cheer or lecture. It sits with you — awake when it's late, settled in the evenings, quietly proud when you reach a milestone. It's the feeling of not being alone with the urge, drawn as gently as we could manage.
Private, because it has to be
The things you write here are the things you'd never send. That only works if they're truly yours. So nothing leaves your phone — no account, no cloud, no analytics. We built Hearthkeep so that we couldn't read your words even if someone asked us to.
What we hope
That you open it on a bad night and close it without sending anything. That the flame gets a little taller each week. That one day you notice you haven't needed it in a while — and that's the goal. Getting over someone isn't a product you finish. It's a lot of quiet nights you get through, one at a time.
— Made quietly, for late nights.
